About Renting in Montreal

In Montreal, landlords advertise rental units by the total number of rooms, and a half room is considered the bathroom. So, a 1.5 room apartment is a studio with a bathroom, a 2.5 is a one-bedroom with a kitchen/living room area and a bathroom, and so on.

You might also notice that July 1st is “moving day”. Leases in Montreal tend to run from July 1st to June 30th, so if you need to book a moving truck, it is best to book well in advance.
